This crystal is a very ancient one and has been used for centuries.

This week is all about: Red Jasper.

Red Jasper stones have been used by ancient people and civilization throughout the world for years as sacred and precious stones. Jaspers were used as the stone of protection, for both the physical and spiritual realm. They were also known as the “rain bringers”, the name can be traced back to Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Assyrian, Greek and Latin. This is due to the combination of its relative popularity and it’s boldness.

This beautiful red stone can be found in large numbers in places such as India, Russia, Brazil, Germany, France and the USA. It is a widely known crystal that is easily identified by its colouring. Red Jasper crystals are a grainy microcrystalline quartz.

Let’s go back in time and talk about the history of Red Jasper. It was known to be the stone of vibrancy and endurance, a talisman of warriors and also a promoter of justice, protection, and life. Red Jasper used to heal the blood of wounds, stirred the pulse, and increased fertility. In history, according to the Vikings and Germanic legend’s, it was said that the hilt of the magical sword of Siegfried, the dragon slayer, was inlaid with Red Jasper to bring him courage and help during times of need.

The ancient Egyptians used to link Red Jasper with the fertilizing blood of Mother Isis. They would often carve it into protective amulets to be placed upon the neck of the deceased, engraved with the 156th chapter of the Book of the Dead.

It is also believed that Red Jasper was likely the “Ruby” listed in the Bible, the Odem, or first stone in the breastplate of Aaron, the High Priest, engraved with the tribal name of Reuben.

Red Jasper was called the “blood of Mother Earth” by Native American tribes because it was said to be used to stimulate health and re-birth, new ideas, strategies, and increase one’s sensitivity to the earth when dowsing for water or calling in rain.

Today, Red Jasper is widely known as the “stone of endurance”. This is due to its gentle vibration and is a stimulator of chi or life force.

Red Jasper helps with physical strength, energy, stamina. This crystal has a strong vibration that works slowly with the universe. It is a stone to give overall assistance and guidance to everyone, as it stimulates increased energy, strength and stamina.
