This weeks crystal is: Moonstone
Moonstone, the crystal that holds the power of mystery, has secrets locked beneath its pearly veil that hold our own inner truths. Only shown within its reflective light is when we begin to understand what this precious stone has to teach and show us.
Long ago Moonstone has been connected to the magic of the moon. It has been known to be an amulet of protection for travellers and also gifts for those who need a pathway to wisdom. This is why Moonstone has been used in Roman jewellery for about two thousand years. It has always been a sacred stone in India with a special significance for lovers, and is a traditional wedding gift there.
Moonstone is best known as the traveler's stone and is especially protective of those who travel by night or upon the water when the moon is shining. Because of its high uplifting quality of hope, it has long been worn as a talisman to enhance the personality.
Named for its moon like sheen, Moonstone is a Feldspar mineral, known for its watery opaqueness and its silvery white reflection called chatoyancy. Moonstone occurs in delicate shades of peach, blue, grey, white and a prismatic variety known as Rainbow Moonstone.
Blue, or Cat's Eye Moonstone is the stone of clarity of the mind and inner vision.
Grey Moonstone is a stone that carries the mysteries and powers of the new moon.
White Moonstone is the stone that helps one to magnify emotions. Activating the energy in women and emotional balance in men. It is also supportive in children to drive away nightmares or insomnia.
Peach or Yellow Moonstone helps to support the heart as it stimulates the mind by soothing worry or anxiety.
Rainbow Moonstone provides psychic protection, clearing the mind and senses.
Moonstone is also the stone of love and helps to stimulate the kundalini energy and carnal desires. It is the ultimate fertility crystal. Wearing a Moonstone necklace during lovemaking at full moon harmonises the body into the natural lunar cycle.
Moonstone connects the sacral and third-eye chakra for emotional balance and can be used to balance the heart chakra.
