I always here people ask what is Malachite? Well, it's simple really. Malachite is a green copper carbonate hydroxide mineral with a chemical composition of Cu2(CO3)(OH)2.

Malachite was one of the very first ores used to make and produce copper metal. It is usually found in small quantities and usually is sold for higher prices for other types of use.

Malachite is a unique green colour that does not fade over time or when exposed to light. So, you can keep one of these beauties in the window! Extra bonus! This is why Malachite is a preferred pigment and colouring agent for thousands of years.

Malachite is a mineral that forms at shallow depths within the Earth, in the oxidizing zone above copper deposits. It forms within limestone where the subsurface chemical environment favorable for the formation of carbonate minerals can occur. Over 4000 years ago, Malachite was mined and used to produce copper.

Malachite's is mostly know for its green colour. This crystals colouring range from a pastel green, to a bright green, to a very dark green that is almost black. When these materials are cut into slabs and pieces are often exhibit banding and eyes that are very similar to agate.
